Ponte Pietra Trebbiano Garganega is a zesty, aromatic wine, with light perfumes of white flowers and a touch of almonds on the nose.

On the palate Ponte Pietra Trebbiano Garganega is fresh and vivacious, with an appealing apple/almond character and a lively, crisp finish.

Ponte Pietra Trebbiano Garganega : These elegantly presented wines are made by Matt Thomson at Cantina di Monteforte from fruit which is declassified from Soave Classico status and offer superb quality at this price.

Verona’s ‘Ponte Pietra’ (stone bridge) dates back to Roman times, although vines have been planted on the hills outside of Verona for much longer than this bridge has spanned the Adige River.

These wines are made by Matt Thomson at the Cantina di Monteforte. Veronaís ëPonte Pietraí (stone bridge) dates back to Roman times, although vines have been planted on the hills outside of Verona for much longer than this bridge has spanned the Adige River.

The Garganega grapes for this wine were grown on the hillside vineyards situated next to the Soave zone in the Val d`Alpone.

The vineyards have excellent south east exposure, with soils of volcanic origin. The hillside sites give the fruit great concentration.

The Trebbiano is all Trebbiano di Soave from spalliera-trained vineyards, producing grapes with a lovely aromatic depth.

The grapes were hand harvested, destemmed and crushed then pumped to the press without the addition of sulphur.

The juice was chilled immediately and naturally settled. Cultured yeasts were added to initiate fermentation, which took place at around 14°C in order to retain freshness and fruit flavours.

The wine was bottled young to preserve fresh fruit character.

The Cantina di Monteforte d'Alpone was constituted in March of 1952 like a society between 80 winegrowers of the zone, with the common love for the land and the grapevine ,in a sunny area of hills, dedicated to preserve the quality of wine. http://www.cantinadimonteforte.it/eng/azienda.php

Actually, the Cantina di Monteforte S.c.a. amount to 600 members with 1300 hectares of vineyard (the 80 % is D.O.C.).The Cantina di Monteforte is set around the entrance of Val d' Alpone zone, famous in the world for the Bolca's fossils and Soave Classico.

The lands by which come from the grapes are mainly hill and of volcanic origin and give to the wines an unmistakable taste.

The exposition of the vineyards and the mild climate complete the harmony and delicacy of bouquet with floral reminiscent of hawthorn, elder and violet flowers, and with a pleasant almond aftertaste.
